We've never really shouted about it before but ever since we started out in 2003, we've done everything we can to reduce our environmental impact as we run our business.
Now, we,ve never bothered calculating our carbon footprint or paid a carbon-offsetting scheme to plant trees for us (in fact we've even knocked a couple down to make way 3rd set of the mainline at our trails - they were dead anyway) but we do our bit where we can.
Our van is converted to run on LPG... which is much cleaner than diesel. see this website
We recycle all the packaging we receive from suppliers to post stuff out to customers and shred wasted paper to help package products. We also do a weekly run to the recycling point for any wasted card/plastic/glass bottles
when we fitted out our shop, we insulated it to the max. As a result, we need no heating whatsoever - we don't have a gas supply or any electric heaters or air con. And it's warm. We also run energy-efficient lights.
Everyone who works in our store gets the train or rides to work - and Rich lives above the shop. Not that we haven't got cars - it's just faster and more fun...
